If a loved one dies, obtaining a death certificate is essential for legal and administrative
matters. It is an important document for property transfers in Pakistan, bank account and
pension matters, or insurance claims abroad. If for some reason the death could not be
registered on time, the process of late registration has to be completed.
Where to obtain a death certificate?
It is issued by the Union Council and it is required to be a close relative of the applicant, such
as a son, daughter or any other close person.

Copy of the applicant’s CNIC
Deceased’s CNIC
Death certificate issued by the hospital Burial slip
